会員の皆様、
抜水（ぬくみず） みどり氏によるお料理セミナー、『オンライングルメ旅【食い倒れの街・大阪】ネイティブ料理研究家から学ぶ「ストリートグルメ」の作り方』を５月５日にオンラインで開催し、会員の方のみならず日本やフィラデルフィア以外からの方々も含めおよそ４０名の方々にご参加いただきました。
セミナーでは、外国人がまだ知らないディープでカラフルなニッポングルメを再発見し、同時に自分自身で料理していただきたいという抜水氏の情熱を感じました。京都のスタジオからライブでご教授して下さった抜水氏のご指摘（日本へのインバウンド観光客の日本の「ストリートグルメ」への関心の高さ）も感慨深かったです。
お料理のテーマは食のパラダイス大阪。メニューを飾る、お好み焼き、焼き餃子、大阪発祥ミックスジュース。それぞれに必要な素材、入手方法、コツなど具体的に詳しく説明していただいただけでなく、参加の皆さんからも入手が難しい場合に代わりになれる素材の提案までいただき、討論型で盛り上がりのある場面もありました。皆さんが極上の大阪発祥グルメを手作りし、故郷に想いを馳せるセミナーになったことを願っています。
休憩時間には、当会法人会員かつ本セミナースポンサーMaido!様のご紹介をいたしました。この場をお借りしMaido!様への感謝を表します。
また今回のセミナーは、英語話者の方にもお楽しみいただきたいという目的で、ドレクセル大学の日本語クラスでフィラデルフィア の日本人コミュニティについて勉強している三名の学生ボランティア（トーマスさん、オガスティンさん、セラさん）にお手伝いいただきました。フライヤーや日本語レシピの英訳を始め、セミナー当日のチャットでの日本語情報の英訳など、大活躍でした。ボランティアの皆様に感謝しますと共に、ご紹介くださったウィリアムズ千尋先生にも厚く御礼申し上げます。

Dear Members,
We would like to express our heartfelt gratitude for your participation in our recent online seminar, “Online Travel Cuisine [Osaka Street Food]: From a Native Culinary Expert, Learn How to Make Japanese Street Food,” presented by the esteemed Ms. Midori Nukumizu, a native cuisine researcher. Your presence made the event a tremendous success, and we were thrilled to have about 40 participants from diverse locations, including Japan, Philadelphia, and beyond.
During the seminar, we delved into the deep and colorful world of authentic Japanese cuisine, shedding light on the delights that may still be unfamiliar to foreigners. Ms. Nukumizu’s passionate guidance encouraged everyone to embark on their own culinary adventures. It was truly inspiring to receive insights from Ms. Nukumizu, who taught us live from a studio in Kyoto, regarding the immense interest of inbound tourists in Japan’s vibrant “street food” scene.
The event centered around the culinary theme of Osaka, a true food paradise. Ms. Nukumizu provided detailed explanations on each menu item, including okonomiyaki, yaki gyoza, and the Osaka speciality mixed juice. She not only covered the necessary ingredients and preparation methods but also offered alternative suggestions for hard-to-find ingredients, leading to lively discussions and exchanges of ideas among the participants. We hope this seminar allowed everyone to create their own exquisite Osaka dishes and reminisce about their hometowns.
We would also like to take a moment to express our gratitude to Maido!, a corporate member of JAGP and the sponsor of this seminar. Their support played an invaluable role in making this event possible.
In order to make this seminar accessible to non-Japanese speakers, we received assistance from three volunteers, Mr. Thomas, Mr. Augustin and Ms. Sarah of Japanese 340: Japanese Community in Philadelphia at Drexel University. They played a vital role in translating flyers, Japanese recipes, and providing real-time English translations during the seminar. We extend our heartfelt appreciation to all the volunteers and a special thank you to Mrs. Chihiro Williams, a Drexel faculty member who referred them to us.
