今回は過去２回のシニアの活動についてご報告します。
第２回英語シニア茶話会は、２月２８日（水）午前１０時よりメンバー５名参加のもとZoomにて行われました。 テーマは「人生に良き影響を与えてくれた人々」でした。参加者の2人が共通する良き人生の恩師は学校の先生達でした。別の参加者は牧師を上げ、或いは恩師は特にいなかったとの事でした。またもう一人の参加者はその先生からよきアドバイスを期待しましたが、それもなく失望したとのお話でした。恩師達には皆今でも心から感謝の気持ちを表していました。それぞれの人生観を交歓をして楽しい会となりました。次回は４月３日（水）午前１０時で、テーマは「音楽と私の人生」を語り合います。
また、昨年までの日本語シニア茶話会をリニューアルして開催されました「新」和の交流会。第１回目は、３月１０日、Zoomにて行われ、９名の方々が出席されました。テーマは「各自が見たり感じたり読んだり行ったりして感銘を受けたものを他の人たちにも紹介しあう」という内容で、参加者皆さんが活発に発言されました。特に映画関係では 「Green Book」、「Perfect Days」の話題で盛り上がりました。当会会員でもある伊勢田由香さんの素晴らしいバレエのパフォーマンスに感銘を受けた方もおりました。「新」和の交流会は、今後はZoomだけではなく、外食、映画観賞、読書、音楽美術鑑賞など活動を広げ、シニアのみならず若い人たちにも喜んで参加していただいて、活発に意見交換ができる会にしていきたいと望んでいます。

The latter half of March is already here. Daffodils and early-blooming cherry blossoms are beautiful, aren’t they? Now, let us share a report on the senior activities from the past two sessions.
The 2nd English-speaking Sawakai took place over Zoom on February 28, with five members in attendance. Our theme was “The teachers or mentors who inspired me most.” Among the attendees, two shared that their schoolteachers had a significant and positive impact on their lives. Another participant mentioned that a mentor, who happened to be a pastor, had influenced them greatly, while one attendee expressed having no mentor at all. Another participant hoped for valuable advice from her teacher, but she was disappointed to find none. Nevertheless, we are still grateful to those who have made a positive impact on us. It was interesting to exchange various life experiences with each other.
The next Sawakai will be held on Wednesday, April 3 at 10 AM and the topic is “Music and my life.”
Additionally, the “New” Japanese Cultural Exchange Gathering, the renewal of the traditional Japanese-speaking Sawakai held until last year, was inaugurated as a new platform for cultural exchange. The first session took place on March 10 via Zoom, with nine participants in attendance. The theme centered around sharing personal experiences that left a deep impression, whether through things seen, felt, read, or experienced, fostering lively discussions among the participants. Particularly, discussions flourished around movies such as “Green Book” and “Perfect Days.” Some attendees were deeply moved by the magnificent ballet performance of Yuka Iseda, an esteemed member of JAGP. Looking ahead, the “New” Japanese Cultural Exchange Gathering aims to expand its activities beyond Zoom, including dining out, watching movies, reading, and appreciating music and art. We hope to encourage not only seniors but also younger generations to participate eagerly, fostering vibrant exchanges of opinions and experiences.
