Dear Members,
This year’s Aki Matsuri, sponsored by the Japan America Society of Greater Philadelphia (JASGP), was held on Saturday, September 13, from 4–8 pm. At our booth, we featured traditional Japanese games such as the Chopstick Challenge and Kendama, while also sharing information about our organization with prospective members.
The booth was lively from start to finish, with continuous lines of visitors eager to join in the fun. Interest was so strong that even after we ran out of Cup Noodles (generously donated by Nissin Foods) before 7 pm, many participants still wanted to keep playing!
A total of 14 volunteers helped make the event a success. Some demonstrated how to play Kendama and managed tickets, while others guided visitors at the Chopstick Challenge. Guests, especially children, showed great determination and wouldn’t give up until they succeeded, which made for many heartwarming moments.
Many volunteers also took turns staffing the booth, assisting with setup and cleanup, and preparing treats and decorations that added a festive touch. It truly was a team effort, and thanks to everyone’s support, our booth was enjoyed by many visitors throughout the evening.
