会員の皆様、
秋風が吹く晴天の中、松風荘にて１１月９日（土）に当会創立６０周年記念のお茶会が催されました。フィラデルフィア裏千家淡交会のラプレツィオーサ伸子さんがお点前を披露され、清廉な空気がお茶室を流れる中、心穏やかな気持ちで参加者の皆様はその所作を拝見されました。ハウク幸子さんがこの日の為に用意された和菓子は、外側はリマ豆を原料に赤、黄色に染まった紅葉の葉を模し、中身は絶妙に甘さが調整されたこしあんで出来ており、皆様に大変喜ばれました。
おもてなしに使用されたお抹茶は先ず京都小山園の「五十鈴」という銘の薄茶、次に二杯目をご所望されたお客様には、福岡県八女にある星野園で作られた「星授」という銘のお抹茶が振る舞われました。「星授」は本来濃茶用のお茶ですが、二つのお茶の味のまろやかさ、渋みなどの違いを皆様に楽しんでいただきました。
床の間にあるお軸「吾心似秋月」（吾が心、秋月に似たり）と茶花、奥には千住博の襖絵、そして伝統的な日本庭園を眺めながら、行く秋に想いを馳せつついただくお抹茶は、また格別で大好評でした。
このような至福な午後のひとときを過ごせる機会を与えてくださった、フィラデルフィア裏千家淡交会のボランティアの方々には心より感謝申し上げます。

Dear Members,
On a clear day with an autumn breeze, the tea ceremony to celebrate the 60th anniversary of the JAGP took place at Shofuso on Saturday, November 9th. Mrs. Nobuko Lapreziosa, a member of the Philadelphia Urasenke Tankokai, demonstrated her tea ceremony skills. As the pure, serene atmosphere filled the tea room, guests calmly watched her graceful performance.
The wagashi (Japanese sweets) prepared for the occasion by Mrs. Sachiko Houck were highly praised by the guests. The exterior of the sweets was made from lima beans, dyed red and yellow to resemble autumn leaves, and the inside contained a perfectly balanced sweet red bean paste (koshi-an), delighting everyone who tasted them.
The matcha served during the ceremony began with a thin tea called “Isuzu,” sourced from Kyoto’s renowned Koyamaen. For guests who requested a second serving, “Seiju” matcha, typically used for thick tea, from the Hoshinoen tea garden in Yame, Fukuoka was served. Guests appreciated the distinct differences in flavor, smoothness, and bitterness between the two teas.
Reflecting on the passing of autumn, the hanging scroll in the tokonoma (alcove) read “My heart is like the autumn moon” (吾心似秋月), accompanied by seasonal flowers. In the background, there was a folding screen painted by Hiroshi Senju, and the traditional Japanese garden outside provided a beautiful view. Drinking the matcha in this tranquil setting was especially appreciated by the guests, who gave it high praise.
We would like to extend our sincere gratitude to the volunteers of the Philadelphia Urasenke Tankokai for their dedication in making this afternoon so enjoyable.
